Anton Frondell's NHL saga continues – two goals tonight
NEW YORK. Anton Frondell's NHL saga continues. Last night, he became a two-goal scorer for his Chicago team for the first time. "I love to score goals, it's the best feeling in the world," says the 18-year-old sensation.
The game as such was not the most fun for the fans in the United Center. The Blackhawks lost 7-2 to a Carolina team that rested Sebastian Aho, Jaccob Slavin, Seth Jarvis, Jordan Staal, Jordan Martinook and Andrei Svechnikov while waiting for the playoffs.
But they cheered anyway, because they got to see another magical glimpse of the club's future.
Already in the middle of the first period, Anton Frondell scored the second goal of his short NHL career, when he found a stray puck right in front of Frederik Andersen – and a bit into the third, he elegantly steered in the third as well.
"I love to score goals, it's the best feeling in the world. So of course it's very fun for me that I got to score two tonight," says the 18-year-old Stockholmer when he meets the media afterwards.
"But at the same time, it sucks to lose.
When Anton is asked if he is surprised by how well he has done in the nine games he has played, and how productive he has been, he nods lightly.
"Yes, a little. But I also play with very good and very special players. Sometimes they make it easy for me.
The Blackhawks, and the new star from Sweden, have three home games left before the summer break – against St. Louis, Buffalo and San Jose.
